Nautilus is a graphical file manager for the GNOME desktop enviornment. It based on GTK+ and the current version in openSUSE is 2.30.1
The name Nautilus is a play on words. Nautilus being the name of a shell, Nautilus = graphical shell.
Nautilus has replaced Midnight Commander in GNOME as the default file manager. Nautilus first release was 2001. The project started, because the old Midnight Commander was too unmodern.
