Quick Start Up Guide

Manipulating the Grids

Some of the windows will display a grid (list). In most cases, is it possible to sort the list by clicking on the column header.

The columns header also have a hiden menu, located at the right corner, with some options (not all of them will be available on all the lists):

  • Sorting: is it possible to sort the list also using this menu.
  • Filtering: some columns will display a list of options to apply some filters on the list, and others will display a text box in which write the desired search.
  • Column hiding: you can hide some columns or show the hidden columns (if there is one)

Also, some lists have a context menu, so try right click over a row to find more functions.

The File List

Located under the File Manager menu. Here is where most of the tasks will take place.

Highlighting the list

  • At the bottom, there is a toggle button. Enabled will mark the files that have untranslated or fuzzy messages.

Downloading files

  • Use the check box to mark the desired files and click the Download button. The selected files will be downloaded in a tar.gz archive, containing the folders to which they belong. If you want to disable the folder creation, disable this option under the Preferences option located in the User Preferences module.

File Upload

Image:V2g fileupload.png

Users without write permissions to the SVN can upload an archive (.tar.gz or .tar) containing .po files without directories, or even a single set of .po files. After the file is uploaded it will be checked for valid headers and send it to the team coordinator as attachment by mail. The file status will be updated to identify this condition.

Have in mind that after the files are uploaded is necessary to confirm it, otherwise the changes will be lost.

A file can only be uploaded if it is in a correct working status, ie: Translating or Proofreading.

Update File Status

  • Use the context menu or double click over the desired file.

Only available if you are the assigned translator or reviewer of the selected file and the file is in a status that allows edition. Depending of your role, the New Status list will display differents options. Select the desired one, write a comment (optional) and click Save.

Possible status are:

  1. Pending: anyone can take this file.
  2. Assigned: the file is assigned. No one else can work with it.
  3. Translating: the translator is working on this file.
  4. Required proofread: the file is translated and ready for proofread.
  5. Proofreading: the reviewer is working on it.
  6. Completed: the file is translated and reviewed.

Releasing a File

  • Using the Update Status option, you can remove your assignation to a file. If you want, enter a comment and click Free.

The coordinator will be notified.

Assigning Files

  • Coordinator:
    • Click the assign icon.
    • You can choose a Translator and/or a Reviewer and enter a comment.
    • If you only want to set a Reviewer and allow him/her to edit this file, check Set initial status to Requires Proofread (only applicable if the file status is Pending).
    • The assigned user/s will be notified.
  • Unrestricted User:
    • Click the assing icon and select the desired role from the list.
  • Restricted User:

Image:V2g uploadlist.png

  • Select the files you want to mark and click Lock.
  • You can download the package using the list context menu (right click).
  • Commit the files as you usually do using the svn.
  • Select the files commited and click Submit. The files will be marked accordingly in the file list.
  • If you want to reject the files, click Reject. The uploader will be notified.

Translating the Application

The default language is english, if you want to translate the application to your language, use the UI Translator module located in the main menu. Have in mind that the changes to the strings in the interface requires to refresh the page (hit F5).

Know Issues

  • File upload does not work with Konqueror and Opera. (Bug #24).
  • Internet Explorer is not supported. (nothing will be done to fix this)
