openSUSE 11.1 est la prochaine version qui incorporera de nouvelles fonctionalités issues de la communauté ainsi que des développements internes. Elle sera disponible pour les plateformes x86, x86-64 et PPC.

IMPORTANT: TRAVAIL EN COURS, NE PAS PUBLIER !

Les principaux travaux qui seront effectués concernent:

• GNOME 2.24
• KDE: KDE 4.1.1 (avec optionnellement KDE 3.5.10)
• OpenOffice.org 3.0
• Amélioration continue du système de gestion des paquets
• Noyau Linux 2.6.27 (ou plus récent)

• Milestone: snapshot release without agenda

Thu, Aug 21 openSUSE 11.1 Alpha 2 release

• Kernel and installer work on a limited range of machines.
• Boot able ISO with kernel, installer and all tool chain packages updated.
• Start install and functional tests on those features which are available.

Thu, Sep 04 openSUSE 11.1 Alpha 3 release

• Milestone: Toolchain is feature frozen

XX XXX, XXX First translation round

• Milestone: All packages submitted latest POT file into SVN

XX XXX, XXX Component freeze for beta1, crypto freeze

• Milestone: We have settled for a KDE branch to go for
• Milestone: Feature and version freeze for the base system
• Milestone: Kernel and install works on most targeted machines.
• Milestone: Packages containing cryptographic routines are frozen (ECR)
• Preliminary Authoring Deadline for localized doc files (ADL loc prelim)

Thu, Sep 18 openSUSE 11.1 Beta 1 release

• Milestone: installation workflow is feature frozen
• Proofreading of all software starts so that we have a new baseline.
• Milestone: Feature and version freeze for the complete distribution (exception: patchlevel update of leaf packages until Beta1+)
• Milestone: First localized build
• Milestone: Complete string freeze
• Milestone: All features are coding and function complete.
• Milestone: Kernel and install works on all targeted machines.
• Milestone: Last round of software translation starts - "hard text freeze"
• Milestone: Documentation deadline ("authoring deadline") for localized manuals, proofing starts, first source drop (locdrop) to Localization for volume estimates
• Milestone: all new desktop applications, incl. KDE 4 apps, to ship with the product are integrated

XX XXX, XXX Main translation round

• Milestone: All packages submitted latest POT file into SVN
• 12:00 CEST: Developers to check in the POTs for the 2nd cycle of software translation

XX XXX, XXX openSUSE 11.1 Beta 1+ release

• Milestone: Patchlevel update of leaf packages finished

Thu, Oct 02 openSUSE 11.1 Beta 2 release

• Milestone: Fully localized build
• Milestone: Localization testing starts
• Milestone: Only major/critical/blocker bugfixes allowed.
• Milestone: Drop of (EN) screen shots to Localization
• Milestone: Preliminary drop of all manuals for novell.com/documentation web site (beta) to rballard

• Only showstopper and security bugfixes get integrated.
• Milestone: Final drop of all manuals for novell.com/documentation

Thu, Dec 18 openSUSE 11.1 public release

• Release on the ftp server
